By George! I've got it!!!

I am officially a business!  Ribbons and Roses Creative is official!  Now the fun stuff begins!! The next step is the fun tax permit.  Although this is a must have for the state in which I live, it sort of makes me giddy!  Thinking I finally have to get serious about this and pay state tax!  Ahhh!!!  I can't believe it!  I am taking everything one step at a time for fear I'll mess something up.  There are so many laws I'm afraid to accidentally violate.  That's all I need!!  Anyway, I just wanted to share with you my joy!

Oh and by the way, I have disabled the right click feature on my blog to protect my images.

Going pro!

Okay!  Here we go!  I am in the process of making Ribbons and Roses Creative my DBA (Doing Business As)!  Tomorrow I sign the papers and it will be official!  The next step is getting my sales tax permit for the state!  Oh boy!  Could I really be going pro?  So far, I haven't had any paid shoots.  I have been doing work to build my portfolio and practice my craft.  I am so thankful for the opportunity!  Please pray for me as I build this business so I can continue to stay home with my little lovelies and flex my creative muscles!

Viewside Veranda

Viewside Veranda sits nestled on hill top, surrounded by beautiful trees.  The location provides a beautiful vista of the surrounding area!  Book your event at this beautiful location, and finish your evening with a spectacular sunset!

I was recently given the opportunity to photograph a wedding at this beautiful location!  The evening, although a bit warm at 107 degrees, was memorable.

Head shot

This individual needed a head shot for a work related website.

Me

I thought I would share a bit about my artistic background!  I studied art at the University of Texas at Dallas.  While there, my studio work consisted of painting, drawing, silk screen, sculpture and photography.  Photography and silk screen were my most favorite of all of these!

As a SAHM, I really LOVE photography!  Capturing moments with my family are so important to me!  I am beginning to branch out to help others capture their family moments!  I hope you enjoy my blog!

Twins

These twins were fun to photograph!  I have known them a very long time and watched them grow up!
I feel so old!

Creative Headshots

These headshots are a bit less traditional.  The high contrast style of the first two images provide a more contemporary photograph and engages the viewer.  The second photo uses a warm filter to add a glow.  The following two images use the graphic background of bricks to provide a very structured photograph.  The horizontal bricks juxtaposed with the vertical individual work together to create a visually interesting photo.

Newborn Photography

Small, precious, miraculous...these are all thoughts that come to mind when looking at a newborn.  Photography captures those sweet, priceless moments.  This particular baby was such a joy to photograph.  He literally slept through the entire shoot!!  Perfection!  Mom and Dad wore black shirts to provide a solid background for photographing those sweet fingers, toes and fuzzy head!  Babies change so quickly, especially the first year and photos are a must!

Collages

A grouping of pictures, or collage, can tell a sweet story with simplicity.  These collages capture the time spent at the arboretum.  The first collage was edited with Photoshop Elements.  I converted the image to black and white, added a vignette and a warm filter.  In the image above, I adjusted the color saturation and added a subtle vignette.

Arboretum Photos

These photos were taken at an arboretum.  The day was beautiful and cool!  I had so much fun photographic these kiddos even though they wanted nothing to do with the pictures!

A Dove Diptych

Yesterday, my husband informed me of two little dove chicks outside our back door.  I peeked out to find these two sweet babies in the grass.  Every now and then, the mommy and daddy would perch on the fence to keep a close eye on the little ones.  They are so sweet and continue to hang out in our backyard.

Object Photography

Sometimes a simple thing like a plant in a pot can be visually interesting!  Composition is a huge part of photography.  Adjust your aperature setting to play with your depth of field!  Voila!  There you have it!

Children's Photography

Children change and grow before our very eyes!  Capturing those moments can mean a lifetime of memories put into photographs.  With a few enhancements, these precious children were captured in very natural environments doing what kiddos do!

Family Portraits

Talk about fun!!!  This family was an absolute joy to photograph!  Their love for one another filled the room and their laughter was contagious!  As a group, they decided to coordinate their clothing and wear blacks and greys.  When preparing for a photo session, think about coordinating clothing for a visually interesting photograph!
